Does your school hold Jazz Ballet and Ballet exams?

Yes. Ponsonby School of Dance is an accredited member of The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).  With over 13,000 members' spread across 79 countries, RAD is one of the largest and most influential dance education and training organisations in the world.

At Ponsonby School of Dance we follow the Jazz Addict jazz dance syllabus.  We offer classes from pre-school level to advanced Solo Seal and we prepare students accordingly for each exam level.

We also do Lucidity Contemporary Syllabus and Urban Ignition Hip Hop.

Is there a performance at the end of the year?

For the past seven years Ponsonby School of Dance has staged a show at the end of the year.  Rehearsals for the show begin in Term Four and initially each classes' 'show routine or dance'  is included as part of their standard lesson.

Our end of year shows have become an institution and they are based around an actual story or show.  In previous years we have performed The Wizard of Oz, The Nutcracker, Peter Pan and Cinderella.  Each show includes traditional music or soundtracks as well as more up-to-date songs.  EVERY STUDENT gets to dance on stage at least once, during the show.

Where are the classes held?

Classes are held at our studio, 28 Hargreaves Street, Ponsonby.  Hargreaves Street is off College Hill.  We have 14 'drop-off' carparks on-site, otherwise there is parking in surrounding streets.

As our driveway is shared with other businesses, we ask that parents and caregivers take care not park in their marked carparks and park only in the carparks marked PSOD Tow Away.  Thank you.

How long do the classes run for?

The class times vary according to age. The 'pre-school' classes run for half an hour.

Can parents watch the classes?

Each of our three studio's has a viewing window. We find that children work much better with less distraction from parents or siblings watching. At the end of each term parents and caregivers are able to view classes from within the class room, however, we request that younger siblings do not come into the class room at that time.

How much are the term fees?

Term fees start from $120 per term for Pre School aged children.

How do I pay my term fees?

Fees are charged on a 'per term' basis and must be paid prior to the first lesson of the term.  Fees can be paid by internet banking or cheque.  Or you can pay by cheque or cash at our studio shop.
